DVD burner disc stuttering problems

This is my problem. It has been for a month or two now that this occurs. When I burn a dvd with IMGBURN and play it back on my DVD player the places where it jumps from one Chapter to the next (example 12 to 13) there is a short ANNOYING pause every time. Also there are a few random ones in between.
I have owned this burner for over 2 years and burned several hundred discs through this time. My assumption is this that it may be time for a new burner ,however, I want to make sure that I am right in my conclusion and not waste money for a new one and get the same problems.

burner lite-on sohw-1633s owned 2+ years usage heavily 300+ burned discs
max limit burn speed 8x or 6x
software imgburn also use verify disc on every burn
hardware settings IDE master separate dedicated channel
media RIdata
os windows xp home

Is it possible for your to try the drive in another machine? That way if it works fine then you know its your machine, if not then you know its the burner?

One thing you may want to try first is to re-install the device driver.

Right click my Computer and click manage.

Go to device Manager.

Navigate to cd/dvd rom drives.

Navigate to the drive in concern and double click it.

In the window that pops up click the driver tab.

Click uninstall driver and follow the steps.

Once this is done, restart your system.

This is a bit of a shot in the dark and i reckon your Dvd drive could be defective But worth a try.
