  1. First time member here. Bought a Toshiba DVD burner from Ebay and it was delivered yesterday. It was supposed to be brand new with Nero software etc etc....arrived scratched, with no software and 1 A5 page of writing with a paragraph in English....anyway, XP loaded the driver for the external box but when a dvd is loaded into the drawer it does not seem to recognise that it has a disc in it.....can anyone advise? I borrowed Nero from a neighbour which loaded on OK but the DVD does not seem to know it has a disc and asks for me to insert one....help please. Just checked the device manager and it says it is there so what could be wrong???

Just need a little of clarification. Does the drive not recognize DVDs or CDs or both? If it doesn't recognize a movie DVD, make sure you have set the Region code for the DVD drive. You can do this by going to:

    My Computer
Right click on your DVD drive
    Select Properties
    Select the Hardware tab
Select your DVD on the list
    Click on Properties
    Select the DVD Region tab
    Select your country

    Hope this helps! :)
