Since installing Farcry the dvd drive on my computer has not been able to recognize dvds, but audio and cdrom work fine. I have updated drivers for the drive, uninstalled farcry, gone back to a restore point, and uninstalled Daemon tools. I am at a loss for what is going on. I have a Lite-On combo drive and it has never had any other problems.
Thanks for any help

I had the same problem with an older Toshiba DVD ROM. After trying everything you did, I bought a replacement. It worked, so I concluded that it is in the hardware. I would contact the manufacturer and see what they have to say.

Well combo drives have 2 lasers that read the different mediums. A DVD laser and a CD laser. Your DVD laser might have become messed up and quit working.

you could try actually uninstalling the ide drives from device manager, then rebooting and it will reset itself.
