DVD drive not recognised by My Computer

Heres a strange one

Just put in a bog standard DVD player from my old computer into my new one, bought new ATA cables and everything but when I open "my computer" the DVD player is not there! It is the secondary drive (behind a lite-on burner) on the secondary IDE channel. The bios recognises it and so does Device manager but it won't auto run or appear in My Computer! It is not a faulty drive because it still plays DVD's once you access the player through Windows Media Player!
Ponder over that one!

Running an AMD Athlon XP 2000+, Abit KV7 mobo with Crucial 3200 RAM Windows XP Home

Regards

James
