DVD drive wont update name

    Hi all.
    My Lite-On SHM-165H6S Lightscribe Dvd-Ram drive will not update the name in My computer.
    When I insert a new disk it just keeps the words "DVD-RAM Drive" where it should display the name of the new CD.
    Also it does not autoplay any more even though the settings are set to Prompt me each time to choose an action.
    Any help in fixing this problem would be appreciated.

    it is a windows file system problem prevalent in XP although generally if you have SP2 installed it does not happen to much. one method that often works is to uninstall the IDE channel the drive is on in device manager and reboot, windows will reinstall the IDE channel and the drive automatically on start up. this often fixes the problem.

    Thanks for the reply. This method did not work. I uninstalled both IDE channels and reset, but nothing. Any other suggestions are welcome.
