DVD rewriter issues

I have a new compaq presario laptop using a pioneer DVR-K15 dvd rewriter, it doesnt seem to recognise any writable or rewritable media, it says it dvd-r dl. I have no idea what the dl stands for. Have tried dvd-r dvd-rw cd-rw but no joy. I can play dvds, cds, cdr's and all games & software????

any ideas

DL stands for "Dula Layer". as Mallpup allready asked, what DVD burning software do you have installed? Windows does not support DVD burning natively, you have to install some kind of DVD burning software.
