DVDproblems!!

hi can anyone help, i have a philips PBDV1640P internal dual layer dvd/cd burner.
i can burn audio cd's and dvd rw but it wont let me burn to normal dvd+/-r., it puts up the message that writing failed or just burns so far and sticks! Ive tried various makes of disc but to no avail.Help anyone??

Is this your first time having an issue? or is this a reoccuring thing?
Are you using the software the burner came with?

this problwem started a little over a week ago and after 10 discs is getting annoying!
i use Nero but that gets so far and says failed to burn and if i use DVD Santa that just sticks!
i cant understand how i can burn DVD RW and CD R but not normal DVD+/-R

damn nero completed 82% but faile saying"invalid block address"!any ideas whats happened anyone???
