the deal with dvi is that its the newer technology suited to only lcd monitors, theoretically there should be a performance increase while using dvi but in real world situation they are negligible.vga is the older tried out method and works with both crt and lcd alike.in dvi interface however the videocard has to convert a dvi signal to vga transmit that to the monitor but if the monitor is an lcd with vga than the monitor re-converts it back to dvi causing a useless loop.so it depends on what monitor you have if lcd monitor than stick to dvi and if crt than vga.
