Echo/reverb

i brought a heaset to use on my laptop and when i installed it it sort of had bad reverb and i can't get rid of it.

can someone help me

btw i check the volume controll and thy seem fine. it is something else

I'm guessing it's Realtek based Onboard sound?

In the Control panel there should be a "Sound Effects Manager" or something similar, make sure the Environment is set to Default, or None.

If your PC uses something other than AC97, find out what it is - you could use this http://www.cpuid.com/pcwizard.php
