hi i have got an ecs 570 motherboard and i have been dying to upgrade my video card, it is giving me nothing but trouble.... so i have decided to buy a new 9600gt or 8800gs, is my old battered motherboard compatible with it and with all this pci-e 2.0 im really confused.

Yes, a video card that uses PCI-E x16 2.0 is backward compatible with PCI-E x16 1.x, so, it should work fine with your motherboard's PCI-E x16 slot.

hi thanks for the quick reply, but my motherboard slots run at x8 at all times in and out of SLI would this still be a problem

As far as the interface is concerned you still have a PCI-E x16 slot, it will just be limited to PCI-E x8's bandwidth. It should run just fine...
