enable firewall

hi everybody,
i juz hav a serios trouble.i m unable to turn my firewall on.
i tried all the possible ways.
i tried:1) start->run->firewall.cpl
2)thru' control panel.
both these methods didnt work out.
i get the following error message:
"due to an unidentified problem windows cannot display firewall settings"
plz.......... do help me out....to solve this problem

It`s possible you have a virus problem.

Go and read this thread HERE, then post a HJT log as an attachment into this thread.
