Epson scanner will not start in WindowsXP

I recently purchased an Epson RX620 all-in-one printer-scanner in excellent condition with driver disc. When I loaded the drivers and other software and attempted to use the scanner while in Photo Studio, a window popped up that said "Epson scan can not be started". After many hours of attempting to figure out why, I logged onto Epson.com and asked the question. There support people gave me a number of things to do, which most I already had. They said to go to 'Services' and stop and start the WIA program, which i did but still no luck. I have loaded the RX620 drivers on two other computers and it works fine. I can't figure out what would cause it not to work on this one computer. It is running WindowsXP, SP3. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
