  1. Tonight mIRC (IRC chat) kept freezing and recovering, net lag shot through the roof, internet connection litterally stalled and computer became almost unusable till I hit the fat red button.

Put HJT in it`s own folder, such as C:/programmes/highjackthis/hijackthis.exe. NOT on your desktop, or in a temp folder.

Boot into safe mode. See how HERE.

Turn off system restore.(XP/ME only) See how HERE.

In Windows Explorer, turn on "Show all files and folders, including hidden and system". See how HERE.

Go to add remove programmes in your control panel, and uninstall anything to do with(if there).

    C:\Program Files\SigXC

    Close control panel.

Open your task manager, by pressing the ctrl/alt/delete keys together.

Click on the processes tab, and end process for(if there).

    SigX.exe
    alt.exe

    Close task manager.

Run HJT with no other programmes open, and have HJT fix the following, by placing a tick in the little box next to(if there).

    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [AlexaToolbar] C:\WINDOWS\alt.exe
    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [SigXC] C:\Program Files\SigXC\SigX.exe

    O18 - Protocol: msnim - {828030A1-22C1-4009-854F-8E305202313F} - "C:\PROGRA~1\MSNMES~1\msgrapp.dll" (file missing)

Now click on the fix checked button.

    Close HJT.

Locate and delete the following bold files(if there).

    C:\Program Files\SigXC\SigX.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\alt.exe

Reboot into normal mode, and turn system restore back on.

    Regards Howard :)

SigX isnt the problem. Its a live sig thingo that I'm yet to subscribe to. Its not spyware...to my knowledge. It has a signature that gives live information about your computer. Like how many kilometres your mouse has moved and stuff.

The fact is that sigX phones home with details about what you have on your computer. If that`s fine with you, then keep it.
