exterior memory

hi i recently installed an exterior memory onto my computer, but ever since, only half my icons are loaded upon startup and my startmenu doesnt load. i tried taking out the exterior memory, but still same problem. can anybody supply me with an answer?

Can you be a little clearer explaining your problem? What is "exterior" memory? As far as I know, there is internal system memory and external flash memory devices. Which are you talking about?
