External HDD Keeps D/C

My external HDD keeps loosing its connection with the PC randomly... it still has power going to it but just randomly decides to disconnect itself in the middle of a movie.. ive tried using a different USB cable and have open the enclosure, unplugged it all and plugged it back in and checked all ther wiring connections... still keeps doing it and its getting on my nerves.

Anyone had any similar issues or know of a possible cause/solution. I hope i dont have a faulty encolsure..

Also other USB devices work fine on the port im ussing for the HDD.

I'll have to check next later tonight when i watch some videos.. what does it mean if it is hot?

hot he means temperature-wise..

check your USB settings. I remember there's a setting labled "Allow USB devices to power off/low power when not in use" or something similar.. can't recall where that is tho.
