    I just bought a vantec tornado 80mm fan ...
it's very LOUD and right now I don't need so much air movement.

Vantec has a 'Nexus' brand fan controller on their web site. Can anyone recommend a good Fan Controller?

Any baybus will work great, and you can adjust the speed just by flipping around a switch in a spare 5.25" bay. Go to your favorite online computer retailer and search for 'baybus'.

If you have an ASUS system board, an iPanel would work great.

The main thing to remember is that RPM is not directly proportional to CFM, this means that the speed to airflow ratio is not a linear curve. Decreasing the fan speed a little will decrease airflow a lot more than you might expect. The curve is gradual at first, then drops greatly. Using a baybus is a very good idea because it will allow you to monitor the temps that are affected by the fan(s) you are controlling. If you just use a controller without monitoring, then you run the risk of overheating components.
