I have been playing Far Cry and have not been having issues till now. I'll play for a half an hour to an hour then, I'll shoot my gun and *BAM*. The screen goes black the last sound will repeat like crazy and then the system will reboot (freeze and reboot). What is causing this?
I think I have the latest nVidia drivers for my 6600GT (6.6.9.3?)
    I have DirectX 9.0b
I've already reinstalled the game, defragmented the drive.

I'm at a loss, and my machine is not that weak.
    Dell 8400 3.4 Ghz Pentium 4, 1 GB of PC3200 mem, nVidia 6600GT card.

I play Battlefield Vietnam on the highest settings with no issue, but Far Cry seems to freak out now.

    Need tech help.

dont know if itll help, but the latest nvidia drivers are 71.81, and try getting directx 9.0c

You can try updating the game as well there is a version 3 (i believe out) check out the far cry website and DL the newest version and see if you still have the same problem. :giddy:

What sound card are you using? Try setting you sound quality lower, and make sure you have the very latest sound card drivers.
