Files to burn gone after computer crashed

I wanted to burn some files on a cd, so I moved them there (moved, not copied), then suddenly my computer crashed. When I open up the cd now, all files are gone, even the temporary burn folder is empty. Is there any way to recover these files or are they completely gone?

If you've got hidden files and folders enabled, and nothing is there, I'd say you're out of luck.

I have had such issues with burning stuff to disk in the past but these days I save to a USB stick. Check out the prices because even the good brands are ridiculously cheap and offer dependable storage. It's as easy as it gets.
