OK so i was wondering is it possible to fix cab files from the repair option when you boot from the windows xp cd? Or do cab files, files pertain to certain things you install? If you can fix them from the repair menu what do you type after the administrative password option. Thanks.

What makes you think they are corrupted?

The Repair Console won't do much in the way or repairing .cab files; Do you mean you want to run a Repair INSTALL? The only thing that may be of use in the Console is Checkdisk. Type CHKDSK /R and see if that helps.

"cretin things you install" LOL

I've installed some Cretin things in my time too....

because i have tried installing window's programs and they say that certain cab files are missing or corrupt.

wow i feel dumb cretin*

Your best bet is a repair INSTALL.

Boot off your CD, go through the motions like you are going to install windows, but instead of formatting the drive, there should be an option to REPAIR.

It leaves all your settings etc alone, but re-installs Windows.

If you have installed Service Pack2, you'll need to make sure your CD is SP2, older ones {pre SP2} won't work.
