Flickr brings Pro tier back from the dead, adds new features

  1. What’s old is new again at Flickr as the company is bringing back its Pro subscription tier, the very one it did away with just a couple of years ago. To encourage both new and old users to give the new Flickr Pro a shot, the Yahoo-owned company has beefed up the offering since the last time we saw it. Here’s everything you need to know.

    For starters, the revived Pro tier features new and improved stats which Flickr says provides better insight on users’ most popular and impactful photos. The subscription further delivers an ad-free experience both on users’ own photos and when viewing everyone else’s pictures as well as the return of the Pro badge to signify account status.

    Those that sign up for the annual Flickr Pro plan will also receive a 20 percent discount on Adobe Creative Cloud Photography plan (for yearly subscribers) as well as free standard US shipping on Flicker merchandise (or 50 percent off international shipping with a $25 minimum purchase).

    Flickr Pro is priced at $5.99 per month (or $49.99 annually) for newcomers. Those with existing Pro accounts (if you recall, those who previously had Pro accounts were grandfathered in) will automatically be upgraded to the new version and retain existing pricing and unlimited space. Existing Flickr Ad-Free account holders will also be moved to the new tier with no change in pricing or renewal date.
