Hello. I just recently got a HFS+ formatted 3rd gen (click wheel) iPod from a friend of mine. I own a Windows XP Intel machine. When I tried to reformat the iPod to FAT32 using windows, it said "Unable to Complete Format". When I tried to reformat it in iTunes 7.0.2, the computer froze after about 2 hours (I know, that's WAY too long).

    Any help here?

P.S. I managed to get it to FAT32 format using Quick format, but my problem still persists.

What version of iTunes? Version 7 apparently includes the iPodUpdater software, but back in version 6 there was a seperate program for it. See if you can find the ipod updater software and run that.

I've tried that. It says "This is an outdated version of the iPod Updater. Please download iTunes 7 to update your iPod"

    My version is v7.0.2
