Foxconn to ship 24 million next-gen iPhones in 2010?

Citing anonymous industry sources, DigiTimes reports that Foxconn will ship 4.5 million next-gen iPhones in the first half of 2010, with sales totaling 19.5 million units for the remainder of the year. Apple is expected to launch the iPhone 4G on June 7 during the company's WWDC, but as we're sure you've heard by now, Gizmodo undressed the device weeks ago. Other leaks have also since emerged.

Hardware supposedly includes an ARM Cortex A8 processor and 512MB of RAM – twice as much as the 3GS. DigiTimes says that the iPhone 4G's new screens will boast IPS and FFS technology with a 960x640 resolution. The new displays will support a wider viewing angle and clearer visuals in sunlight, and they're 33% thinner, leaving more space for a larger battery.

DigiTimes' report conflicts with recently leaked photos of a dismantled iPhone prototype, which showed the Apple A4 and 256MB of RAM – the same configuration found in the iPad. Meanwhile, iPhone OS 4.0 will bring long-desired features, such as multitasking. Apple is also said to be working to improve the handset's e-book reader features to promote its iBooks app.

That picture looks very familiar...Oh yes it looks like the First ZUNE model That was introduced a couple of years ago.

Looking forward to this, supposedly it has a thinner screen which should allow them to pack in a bit more battery oomph, although how much extra the new chip and higher resolution screen will use to offset that is anyone's guess.
