Future Lightbulb will be One Glowing Molecule

Carbon nanotubes generate photonic power down to the atomic level.

It's like there isn't any engineering problem that can't be solved with carbon nanotubes. Now, it turns out it can solve problems we didn’t even anticipate, like making the world’s smallest light bulb. It’s so small, it’s only a few molecules in size.

They admit that it's not very efficient. Looks like there's a long road before this sort of stuff comes properly on the scene.

You gotta take your hat off to these sorts of people though, always trying to push the boundries.

oooooooo

Imagine the resolution you could get on a monitor employing that technology!

yup, 7000 x 3500 resolution on a 20" monitor. You wouldn't need AA , but you would need 10 teraflops of GPU to run a game on medium settings.

I think by the time this can be made into some sort of useful HD display, GPU's would have reached TF territory .....

We'll probably all be 6 foot under by the time even a prototype display gets produced.....Worm food.

Well i say "We", i plan to live forever...
