I am having Problems with my video card in my system. It had previously worked for my games but it now gives distorted images when I tested the direct3D using DXDiag.exe. Whenever I start my game (Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic), The beginning part runs correctly (ie, the opening videos) but the menu is no longer shown. All I see is the cursor surrounded by a black screen. When I tried another game (Pirates of the Carribean), the opening was distored by large Red triangles and the menu was distored with green and red vertical lines of boxes (similar to the dos rectangles).

This is surprising because the card preforms quite well when running video files suchas XVID, Mpeg or Avi, as well as DVD playback.

I would appreciate any help.

Hello

Eagle GeForce FX 5200
Don't offer any downloads.
I recommend getting the latest nVidia drivers and DirectX 9.0c .
BioStar U8668-D these are via chipset drivers
I don't know if they need to be installed in any special order.
I would install newer drivers and then DirectX
What do you have the "Agp aperture " in the bios set to?
Do you have fast write enabled or disabled?
Also, do you have the "inf" drivers loaded for your BenQ 17" Lcd ?
I've hot linked all the drivers and such above for you but didn't see the Lcd model,
you'll have to pick it out of the list.
G'Luck
Post back to let us know if this fixed it for you.

Hey,

Thank you for ur help. The video card started functioning normally after I lowered the AGP read speed in my Bios from 4x to 2x.
My Aperature was 128mb and fast write is disabled.
