Games crash on new pentium 4

Hey i just upgraded to a pentium 4 3.0 Ghz as some of you know. but on every game i have played so far i get either: Game freezes then returns upon black screen but i can still shoot, walk, ect. Monitor shuts off in the middle of a game but the pc remains on but unresponsive. never had this problem before realy it might be my grpahics adaptor im not sure. i have an ATI Radoen 9600xt 256mb

Can you check you CPU temp? It may be overheating.

ok it runs around 50 degrees c. but apparently this type of CPU runs are low temperatures.

I think that's an idling temp. We would need to know the temp when the game freezes. Also, the graphics card temp.

Another thing would be a weak power supply. Can you tell us how many amps it pumps on the 12V rail?
