Gaming Mice Roundup 2013: 12-Way Shootout

I honestly don't know which mice have which switches. In the past I have only bought cheap mice that were available at the time. However over the years, I am growing tired of changing them out because of frustration over button control.

The mouse I am currently using is Gigabyte M6880 Laser Gaming Mouse. It doesn't say anything about the type of switches used.

So an Omron switch is what I should be looking at for my next mouse purchase?

Edit:
Maybe I could buy the switch and upgrade my mouse. LOL

I don't know either, you'll have to look up a thorough technical review (techspot review doesn't include this kind of information :()!

They're Japanese made switches and generally considered the best in feeling and longevity, I can't say anymore personally.

Replacing the buttons has been done before... No idea how to though.

That wouldn't be a problem if the switches are the same dimensions. I've actually swapped switches inside a mouse before, because the left switch was the most used and the right switch wasn't acting up.

I'm in love with Corsair M65 :$ And I don't even play FPS games much. However, I still find many uses for its FPS button in SC2 and Lightroom.

Avoid SteelSeries at all costs. I'm on my fourth Sensei MLG Edition and second 6Gv2. All that in less then a year. Their drivers are crap, slow and laggy.

Ok, so good to know I'm not the only one who uses a gaming mouse for Photoshop!

I've got the Corsair M95 (Matte black) and it's so incredibly awesome. I use it at work and thus not for gaming but man, all those MMO keys at the side come in so handy.

Meh none of these are appealing at all. I will stick with my Razer Deathadder 3500 from 2009. Best mouse I have bought for $40

I have a G9X and for some reason I get extra clicks in the desktop but have not noticed it in games. For example if I single click on an item in explorer it should select but not open. However, since my mouse sends a couple of clicks the item opens. It is annoying. I dealt with this for months and finally had it so I requested an RMA but was past my warranty by a week and they would not replace the mouse. Stupid me. Since the mouse is fine in games I still use it for gaming. I have a MX Revolution for the desktop.

I used to use gaming mice but I hate having a cord getting in the way, for the past 4 years I've been using a wireless HP mouse and keyboard which I may of got from a HP All in one at a previous job, mouse is light and responsive and I change the batteries every 3 months tops with 20 hours of gaming a week atleast. Has not got slower or worse one bit. Granted you get no Marco keys but if you need more buy of those marco add on devices.

I thought all Logitech gaming mice were optical except for the G700. I guess the G500 is also. Great round up. Awesome work put into this. I think this will make my job of finding a good mouse in the future easier. I dont think the Razer and Steelseries are good options since a lot of people complain about their products, especially their keyboards. I wonder if their mice are any different. I think Logitech and Corsair are safer options.

Next, a gaming keyboard roundup would be awesome. A lot of awesome options out there currently.

I occasionally have that problem with my Performance MX, which sucks since imo it's the absolute perfect mouse design. Haven't had the issue with my G700, but the thing gets pretty crappy battery life.

Contemplating if I should pick up a new Performance MX or get the G700s.

I just recently got the G700s, but I have been having issues with the buttons not responding when I disconnect the overly stiff data/charging cable. To Logitech's credit, they are still working with me on it, and they even replaced my original, but I'm still having the issue so it may be something specific to my machine.

The mouse that should have been in there is the Roccat Kone Pure. Best mouse I've ever owned and I've owned lots.

Been using Razer mice for 10 years now, started with the Diamondback, went through an Imperator and finally settled on the Taipan (Almost physically identical to the Dimaondback which I adored) and apart from the occasional bug where the mouse stops being detected (Mostly had this issue with the Imperator) they've been good solid mice. They've all taken a little configuration to get comfortable but after 30 minutes your going to adapt to it regardless, this goes for almost every mouse I've ever used, it's foreign at first but humans are marvels at adaptation. Hence comparing two mice side by side becomes very difficult to really be objective about it, and it's impossible to go on reviews alone. The best thing is to go to a store that has them in stock and ask to feel the mice, most come in packaging that encourages this making it easier allowing you to see if it fits your hand at least.

I'm actually looking for a new mouse. I'm taking Battlefield 4 seriously, and leaving my old Logitech M505 for an actual gaming mouse. Can anyone recommend me a good gaming mouse for someone with moderately small hands? I've been looking at the G400s or the Deathadder, but can't really find out which would fit me. Any help is appreciated.

Hard to beat Logitech mice imo. Even though I'm running a mamba 2012 since the day they came out. I realised just how good my Logitech mice still feel after I dug the G500 out of the box to fit to my older pc, I'm now using as a dedicated server. The Razer just doesn't have the same feel of precision that the Logitech has. I also have a G5 and an mx510 lying around somewhere and contemplating digging them out again to replace the mamba.

I'm with you on that. Other than some wear to the rubber grip areas I've got 2 Logitech MX Revolution mice that still work perfectly since I got them when they were launched in 2006, and two Performance MX models (replaced the feet on one but other than that all a-ok). Recently sold one of the newer Performance MX as I wanted a mouse with more buttons for gaming and am currently using a Madcatz/Cyborg/Saitek MMO 7. Hopefully it lasts as it's very comfortable and configurable.

Looking at all those models, I really miss old mice with 3 *actual* buttons on top and 1 (or even 2) rolls between those. Ages ago (15 years or so) there was a4tech's model like that ( http://imgur.com/5HOrJAU ). Ehh...
