Gap at the top of IE window

Started my PC as normal, checked mail as normal, opened IE but its opening with a 1 inch gap at the top of the screen. I can't drag it up to the top - nothing happens. If I minimise it I can drag it then maximise it again but it still has the 1 inch gap.

I have run Adaware, AVG, checked for IE updates and re-booted. Every other program is fine, eg. Word, Outlook Express, Media Player, Windows Explorer. I have also tried adjusting the display on the monitor but it still won't increase to fill in the gap and it also makes the other programs' screens too big then.

I am running Win XP Pro SP1. My desktop is set to 1024 x 768 if that means anything. I was running the IE New Windows Maximizer but I uninstalled it in case there was a bug but still nothing.

Anyone got any ideas? Please no suggestions to use Firefox, Opera etc. I use IE and changing is not going to fix the problem. And I have searched the threads and not found anyone with this particular problem. Thanks.
