If you’re looking to get rid of an old iPad, now may be the best opportunity to do so. From now until November 9, Target is running a trade-in program that will pay out at least $200 toward the purchase of a new iPad Air or other merchandise. If you have a first generation iPad or even a second generation tablet, this is a really solid deal to get the most out of your dated hardware.

To apply, simply bring your old iPad to a Target Mobility store for appraisal. According to the company, the iPad will be accepted so long as it turns on and the screen isn’t scratched. Once cleared, you’ll receive a $200 Target gift card that could be used to lower the purchase of a new iPad Air to $299. In the event you trade in a newer iPad like a third or fourth generation, you could potentially net more than the $200 minimum but at that point, you may do better by selling it through eBay.

Best Buy is running a similar trade-in promotion although they are only accepting third and fourth generation iPads and the iPad mini on trade. Microsoft also recently wrapped up a promotion to trade in your Apple slate for a minimum $200 gift card that could be used to purchase a Surface or other items at the Microsoft Store.

It’s worth reiterating that the promotion runs through November 9 and given the nature of the appraisal, it is available in-stores only.

Too late in the game, all the slickdealers have hit up pawnshops, craigslist, gamestop for used ipad 1 (best trade in value) to get as many cheap ipads as possible to make a quick buck.

I don't know for certain but because Target branded stores are only in the U.S., I would say yes.

I know they have stores open in Canada (where I am currently), but haven't seen any mobility kiosik yet.

Are those Target stores or Zellers? Just curious.
Target, they were Zellers but I think they already took all the Zellers logo down, and got the red / white theme of Target up. Gonna have to really check this out tomorrow....
