On Tuesday, Google announced a partnership with Twitter in which tweets will now be searchable via Google Search products on mobile devices.

The addition means you’ll be able to search for specific Twitter accounts, tweets or hashtags without actually having to open your Twitter app or visit the site via mobile browser.

Google is billing the move as a way for its users to get real-time information when something is happening. The company added that it’s also a great way for organizations and people on Twitter to reach a global audience at the most relevant moments.

Love it or hate it, Twitter is one of the best resources when it comes to as-it-happens updates regarding breaking news. Eyewitness reports from average Twitter users may not always be accurate but at least you can get an idea of what’s going on, especially if it involves you or is happening in your neck of the woods.

It’s hard to see this as anything but good news for Twitter as it’ll expand the platform’s reach even further. In its most recent earnings report, Twitter said it now has 302 million monthly active users despite the fact that it’s still operating at a loss. Anything it can do to add more users and generate more revenue will be seen in a positive light.

The rollout will take place gradually, first on mobile browsers and within the Google app for Android and iOS. In due time, the feature will expand to more languages and desktops.

Even more reason to stop using Gag me as a search engine. Just more towards the trend of regurgitating foul internet ruminant instead of useful search results.
