Gigabyte’s line of tiny desktop computers is now available for purchase. As of writing, Newegg has three different models of the barebones machine in stock priced from $299.99 on the low end up and $529.99 for the top offering.
The GB-BXi3-4010 sells for $299.99, the GB-BXi5-4200 commands $389.99 and the GB-BXi7-4500 will set you back $529.99. All three models appear to be identical save for the processor inside: the Core i3-4010U, Core i5-4200U and the Core i7-4500U, respectively. All of the chips carry a 15W TDP and HD Graphics 4400 except for the i3-4010U which uses the slower HD Graphics 4000.
Each barebones system is equipped with two DDR3 memory slots supporting a maximum of 16GB, one mSATA slot, one half-sized mini-PCIe slot occupied by the WiFi + BT card, Realtek ALC269 onboard audio, Realtek RTL8111G 10/100/1000Mbps LAN and a headphone jack with SPDIF.
Around back is one HDMI port, one mini DisplayPort connector, two USB 3.0 ports, the Ethernet jack, a power connector and a Kensington locking slot. Each machine measures 4.5" x 4.24" x 1.18" (29.9 x 107.6 x 114.4 mm) and a VESA bracket for wall mounting purposes.
As a barebones kit, you’ll of course be responsible for supplying your own memory, storage and operating system. Also keep in mind that these aren’t the same gamer-oriented systems that we previewed last month. Those machines, packing Intel’s Iris Pro graphics, aren’t expected to ship until sometime in December starting at $199 and topping out around $699.
