Leaked images of an update to Gmail for Android, which first appeared on Geek.com, suggest that the search giant is testing some interesting and useful UI changes that include pinning and snoozing emails.

The redesigned app features an "Upcoming" section with email you've postponed responding to for later. Snoozing an email marks it as read, but once the snooze timer goes off, it comes back to the top of your inbox as an unread email -- much like Mailbox. It's a very useful feature for those who sometimes forget to reply after reading emails. You can snooze e-mails over and over, and for any duration of time as needed.

The alleged new design also lets you pin important emails. The toggle switch at the top of the app lets you toggle between your pinned messages and your inbox. It seems to be a better alternative to the current star system, wherein starred messages appear in a different folder.

Along with the Social, Promotions, Forums, and Updates sections that are already there, this version of Gmail also includes Travel, Purchases, and Finance sections.

At present, all these features are part of an internal experiment, and may never make it to the final cut. But it's good to see Google trying to improve its email service. Let us know if you’re excited about any of these changes to Gmail in the comments below.

The snoozing feature is great. It is a great feature that makes Mailbox for iOS a step ahead (can snooze emails for a later time already).
