Following the UK’s decision to leave the EU earlier this year, a number of US companies raised the price of their products as a result of the weakened pound. There were also fears that Brexit could harm foreign investment, but Google has helped alleviate these worries by announcing a new London HQ and the creation of 3000 jobs by 2020.

Currency fluctuations have seen Apple, HTC, and a host of other firms increase the price of their UK goods this year, but Sundar Pichai believes the country is still an attractive place to do business. Speaking to the BBC, the Google CEO said: "We see big opportunities here. This is a big commitment from us - we have some of the best talent in the world in the UK and to be able to build great products from here sets us up well for the long term."

Google’s investment, which will reach over $1 billion, will see a new building that’s 10-storeys high with 650,000 square feet of floorspace built near its Kings Cross offices. Google currently has around 4000 employees in the UK; a figure that could almost double to 7000 by the end of the decade.

The new site was first announced over three years ago, but founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin put the project on hold after they called the initial plans, by London-based architects AHMM, “too boring.” Google has been virtually silent on the subject up until now.

The revamped HQ has been designed by Thomas Heatherwick in collaboration with Danish architects Bjarke Ingels Group.

Pichai did warn that Brexit may have complicated “secondary effects” over the long term, but he didn’t go into specifics. He also added that the UK putting restrictions on the number of skilled migrants was a “worry.”

2016 was the year Nationalism returned.

They wanna call the nationalists xenophobes and racists, but the reality is that eventually people get sick and tired of having "theirs" taken by a government that doesn't represent their interests - especially to give to the "other".

The problem with socialism is eventually you run out of other people's money to spend.

Look at what "they" do once they figure out the people voted against them. They try to come up with reasons and mathematics to try and undermine the election/vote results because they refuse to accept a loss. Farage and Trump may turn out to be heroes of our time.

They can call us whatever they please. Nations exist for a reason. Alter the demographics, you alter the nation.

This is unacceptable.

You say that like it's a good thing. Nationalism is just a political ideology that favours those who are born in the right country, countries themselves being artificial lines in the ground drawn to separate 'us' being anyone, and 'them' being anyone else.
What these nationalist don't realise is that 'they' are 'us' and 'we' are 'them'. Humans are humans no matter where they were born, and are defined by the culture they are brought up in.
No one in the western world is particularly for socialism despite a few left wing extremists and internet memes, but those who have centre-left leanings aren't satisfied with climbing the ladder to economic prosperity and then kicking away the ladder and telling the rest of people that "life is a *****".

#1 NO I am NOT

#2 My only obligation in this world is to myself - and my children.

#3 The problems of others are not my concern - until they become my problem - at which point I will deal decisively with them.

#4 Darwinism is always in effect.

Perhaps if these people living around the world weren't acting the way they do and didn't have cultures/religions that keep them behind...they'd get ahead.

But they aren't willing to compromise their belief systems - even though they are detrimental to their evolution - so guess what:

Darwinism happens.

The weak shall perish. The strong shall inherit the future.

You can call my attitude whatever you want.

Just remember: #1 I'm still here. #2 I still vote.

This is historically and scientifically illiterate. Nations exist for the same reason chess clubs aren't bowling clubs: because different groups of people have different traits. Nations are extensions of those traits and introducing hoards of foreigners into those nations necessarily disrupts those nations by putting people with fundamentally different cultures and temperaments in direct competition with one another.

Farage may turn out to be heroes of our time.
That guy needs to disappear sooner rather than later, just check interviews with the guy. He's the biggest hypercritical ***** of our time. Example from the latest interview I watched about the lawsuit against the government on triggering Article 50:

Farage: I agree, Parliament should vote on the way we leave the EU.

30 seconds later...

Farage: Completely disagree, They're just getting in the way and slowing down triggering Article 50...

I mean seriously? He basically said in that interview that MP's just shouldn't be able to vote on anything when it comes to leaving the EU. If that's the case, why the f*ck do we even have Parliament?

I agree with the rest of your post but don't know why you brought socialism into it , these people aren't socialist , far from it. They are the so called 'liberal left' or what used to be called Fascists , they are worse than Fascism because they pretend to be something else.

This is the problem with our society, everyone is to vain and only looking out for themselves instead of looking out for their neighbor too. This type of attitude will get you no where in life or the life thereafter.

Like most things, Nationalism has nuances and can be used for good or for ill. Nothing wrong for citizens of a country to be proud, to work hard, to champion their economic system, their liberties, their athletes etc, but I would hope the citizens of the other nations are doing the same thing for themselves. Healthy competition and camaraderie. There is no reason you cannot be Nationalist and not get along with others.
Countries can be said to be 'better than' others due to things like state of the economy, literacy, etc, but when any Nation state things that simply as human beings they are superior and that entitles them and gives them to duty to eliminate entire populations then it becomes bad/misused

Facism isn't the liberal left. It's the opposite direction.
