Last-minute shoppers - or those that simply like to save a few bucks - may want to head over to the Google Play store as the search giant has several attractive digital entertainment deals to choose from.

For a limited time, you can score 75 percent of any one movie rental, up to 80 percent off select e-books or get a three-month subscription to Newsstand for just $3. There's also a selection of free and $0.99 albums, movies that you can own starting at $5.99 and several attractive game deals.

A few of the better game deals include Lara Croft GO, Castle of Illusion, and Hitman: Sniper for $0.99 each as well as Star Wars Pinball 3, Minecraft: Story Mode and NBA Jam for $0.10. Although not a game, one of my favorite apps, Star Walk - Astronomy Guide, can be had for $0.99 (originally $2.99).

Perhaps the best deal of all is three months of Google Play Music for a buck. It's worth noting that this deal is only being offered to new subscribers. Those eligible for the deal will also get three months of access to YouTube Red, the company's ad-free YouTube subscription service.

If you aren't eligible for Google's offer, you can still find some excellent trial offers elsewhere. Apple, for example, is still offering its free three-month trial of Apple Music while three months of Spotify premium service can be had for $0.99. Those who play their cards right could get nearly a year of unlimited streaming for just a few bucks (although there is the hassle of switching services every few months).
