In a move that will give small businesses access to suepr fast Internet connectivity, Google has launched Fiber for Small Business. The rollout has begun with an Early Access Program in select areas of Kansas City for $100/month.

The service is currently only available in a handful of neighborhoods (or "fiberhoods", as the company is calling them), in Kansas City, KS and Kansas City, MO. Here is the area covered in the former:

And this is the area covered in the latter:

Small businesses in these areas can sign up for Google's high speed Internet service, while others can register for email updates to get details on when the company expands the service to their area. Although Google said it has expansion plans, it didn't share details on where and when.

Considering the fact that the Google Fiber service, which offers Internet connections at one gigabit per second, about 100 times faster than typical broadband connections, is available to residential customers in the area for $70 per month, the business price seems reasonable.

A company spokesperson told Kansascity.com that Fiber for Small Business will offer businesses the ability to buy one to five static IP addresses for an extra $20 or $30 a month, making it easier for them to run dedicated servers to host websites. In addition, companies also will be able to use their own Internet routers.

For such speed that is a very reasonable price for a business line.
In the UK That would cost thousands a month if you could get it at all...

It would be nice if they increased their roll-out by a factor of 10!! Bring in some real competition and see how the rest of the ISP react!

Lobby the FCC to take Google to court for Monopolistic practices and driving everyone else out of town? oh wait....

I for one would welcome our new internet overlords with open arms if they made it into my area. :p

Amazing! with so much of the rest of the world enjoying 100 mps over the past twenty years, we are finally catching up. I still remember the AT&T promise that they would "blanket the US with fiber" .... I guess that must be a new word for BS since that's what we got! Thank you Google!

And ATT announced today they have halted their fiber/Gbit rollout. North KC (separate town from KC) has FREE gigabit for all residents, that's about as cheap as Gbit gets. Was paid for with casino money.

Unsmart price and the fact they could just install wifi without running cables.
How it is unsmart? This is for small businesses, seems like a great price to me. Businesses can't accept the caveats of wifi like low or no signal zones and unstable connections, you need wired for that.
