This site has helped me a bunch, but I am still having problems with my computer. Anytime I do a goole search and click on the link it redirects me to somewhere other than where I want to be. Olso, my firewall keeps turning off everytime I restart my computer. I ran my virus protection and it found a couple of things, as well as adaware and I deleted the files, but I still am having a problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

I attached my hijackthis log

Hello grizzly0330

Viewpoint is considered foistware and is not needed on your computer.
Download and unzip to own folder on Desktop - http://bellsouthpwp.net/p/r/prprogramsstudios/viewpointkiller.zip

Run ViewpointKiller.exe

Reboot.

ViewpointKiller 1.2 FinalViewpointKiller does exactly what it's name says: Kills Viewpoint Media Player. Viewpoint Media Player is an adware that displays bandwith eating popup ads in IE and on your desktop. It comes silently with an install of AIM and will be reinstalled by AIM if uninstalled.ViewpointKiller fixes all of that. It takes off Viewpoint Media Player once and for all.

Then, please run the steps in this guide:

8-step Viruses/Spyware/Malware Preliminary Removal Instructions

Post attached log´s from:

Malwarebyte
Superantispyware
Hijackthis

Reboot to safe mode with network

Restart your computer.
When the machine first starts again it will generally list some equipment that is installed in your machine, amount of memory, hard drives installed etc. At this point you should gently tap the F8 key repeatedly until you are presented with a Windows Xp Advanced Options menu.

Select the option for Safe Mode using the arrow keys.
Then press enter on your keyboard to boot into Safe Mode with network.

Then, try to update, and run malwarebyte and superantispyware.

If you still have problems, rename malwarebyte to mab.exe - Superantispyware to - mike.exe and try again

I was able to get those programs running. I have attached the logs. When I restarted my computer the firewall did not turn off, so it looks like that problem may have been solved and my google searches are not being redirected. Let me know if you see anything in the logs that should not be there. Thank you so much for the help, I thought I was going to have to lose all the information on my computer.

How often should I run the programs you had me download, or should I delete them off my computer??

Thanks Again

Your SuperAntispyware logs shows evidence of pirated software POWERISO V3.8\KEYGEN.EXE. We do not help people with pirated software.

ComboFix should only be run when advised by the helper.

Yes there seems to be an astounding amount of Malware infected threads with members with either P2P or cr@acked software, trying to get support.

Certainly TechSpot cannot members with viewing and system running habits such as this, as for 1 it's illegal, and 2. They'll likely be re-infected anyway !

I wonder if we require a guide on how to use your computer and web habits responsibly. I couldn't find a definitive all purpose guide on line

It may actually even require a mention in the 8-step guide ? Actually that would be ideal.
