Last fall, GoPro rolled out a trio of new action cameras covering a wide range of price points. Of particular interest was the Hero4 Silver as it included an LCD screen that allowed users to play back footage on the spot.

Based on what I can only assume was positive feedback on the feature, GoPro has expanded its line to include a brand new camera, the Hero+ LCD.

As the name suggests, GoPro took its base model Hero and added an LCD to the mix. There are, however, a few differences between the Hero+ LCD, the original base model and the Hero4 Silver that you’ll want to be aware of.

For starters, the LCD screen on the Hero+ LCD can’t be removed from its waterproof case. Due to this limitation, accessing the display means you’ll have to open the rear access panel. But what you can do that’s new is cut footage from the beginning or end of recording (usually just useless recording of you pressing the record button to start and stop recording) for a more sharable-ready clip.

Also, the camera itself is a bit better than the standard Hero base model. Whereas the original could only record 1080p video at up to 30 frames per second, this new model can do so at 60 frames per second. It can also take higher resolution snapshots at 8-megapixel quality versus just 5-megapixels on the standard Hero.

If you want the new Hero+ LCD, be prepared to shell out a good bit of money as it’ll set you back $299.99 (the original is just $129.99). It’ll begin shipping on June 7 according to GoPro’s website.

For the price and all the features, seems well worth the price ..... I may need to add a go-pro to my wheelchair one of these days!
