Graphics card driver software won't run

The card (Geforce 9600 GSO) has been fine for a year or so since i bought it, but a few days ago while ALT-TABBING between screens it locked up and crashed the PC.
I get the following message when i use the device manager "find a solution"

Windows was able to successfully install device driver software, but the driver software encountered a problem when it tried to run. The problem code is 43.

I have tried reinstalling the card and drivers but it seems to make no difference.

any help appreciated

Ill try the drive sweep thanks.
The system restore worked but not for long, as soon as a screensaver came up or if i tried to run a game the PC crashed and went back to saying that the 9600 wasnt installed.
It seems as if the PC cant "see" it unless i uninstall it and then reinstall it.
I have even done a complete reinstall and reformat of the HD.
Still no good

Have you tried installing different driver versions or just the ones you use to have? Try going to the nvidia website and download and install the latest drivers. See if that helps.
