Hey guys, not posted in a while. Happy new year to all :). I opened up an idea about techspot school learning users and it was said that would be far too complex but if there was something users wanted help with they can ask. So I have now.

Basically on a lot of sites which consist of forums, users use signatures. Some of them even flash. Now i want a guide as to how it is possible to make signatures in photoshop please.

Hopefully there will be some help.

Well its the same as just creating images etc. Depending on what version photoshop you have, when you create a new file there's a preset size for banners.. otherwise theres nothing wrong with making your own sizes...

I'm pretty sure you know how to draw, cut, paste images etc then add some layering effects and text.. its all about imagination.. although i don't know if thats the info you're after or not :D

But anyways, don't think it will make much of a use here.. https://www.techspot.com/vb/topic59036.html

I just wondered if you were getting confused between signature and avatar.

please just stick to this thread for now..

can i ask? what version of photoshop is required to make signatures which flash.
i believe you meant "with flash"?

You can create any signature pics like you do with normal pictures, except that its limited to certain image dimensions. So any version of photoshop will do, or other graphic design software.

For animated ones, especially flash you will need to use the programs that can make Flash objects (photoshop doesn't do it by itself) like Flash MX etc.

Few examples are these i made a long time ago from my archives, using a then PS7, simple layering effects etc. although just static images.

If you want guides on how to make images using photoshop, or how to make flash animations, i can try to find you some good links, but i'll have to do that later..

Why in the world would you want to make a signature in flash? Animated signatures are just as damn annoying as animated advertisements!
Flash is useful for making games, websites and browser applets.
I made some long ago not anything flashy though.

yeah please, that would be really really helpful.

By the way, I dont have photoshop, where can I download it for free.

where can I download it for free.
That would be pirating software and is not what we are here to help you with, but fact is that you don't need Ps to create fancy images, Picasa, The Gimp, Pain.Net, Inkscape and other free alternatives exist, and regardless of what program you choose to work with, theres always some time needed to learn how to use the software.

You can download a trail version of Adobe Photoshop by visiting their site www.adobe.com and same with the flash Pro 8 there too. Note they are huge downloads and will only run for a limited time!

Regardless of what program you choose in the end, a brush is a brush, tool is a tool and a colour is a colour..

If you google Photoshop Tutorials, how to create banners, how to make forum signatures etc you can learn heaps.. that and prodding around in the program itself, artistically :)

Few to get you started with, the rest you can google for, or learn off others (and yourself)

thanks n3051m, I have exams from tommorow so better concentrate on those and then I will treat myself with photoshop :D

well us Aussies are probably half a year behind in speeds than there in the US and Europe.. only recently (late last year) that ADSL was available in my area (after i complained a lot to my phone line provider. I think they got sick of me yakking and did something for once. Yay Optus Singtel. :D) and the big telco (Telstra) that owns literally ~90% of the phone lines didn't release the speed cap on its lines until just recently..

i hate to think of people in other places still stuck on *shudder* dial-up.

stupid Telstra.

Yikes. I know what you mean, I only know one person who still has dial-up. Wierd, isn't it? Everyone had dial-up until a few years ago.

On-topic: If you make yourself a siggy, keep the filesize small as a courtesy to my dial-up using minions.
