Half-Life 3 is one of the most anticipated (yet unconfirmed) sequels in modern PC gaming history with rumors dating back several years now. Still, there’s no solid evidence that Valve is working on the title. In the meantime, perhaps a trip down memory lane with a remastered version of Half-Life 2 will suffice?

You may remember Half-Life fan Filip Victor’s first graphics mod in 2009. Since that, he’s been working on a revision that features improved lighting and environmental effects while maintaining the look and feel that made the original so special.

As The Tech Report points out, Half-Life 2 has aged really well over the past decade and with the latest mod, it looks even better. Victor elected to go the subtle route rather than reskin the entire game which was probably a wise decision.

While Half-Life 3 may indeed be under development at Valve, the company has been busy with other endeavors. Specifically, I’m referring to Valve’s involvement in helping HTC develop its Vive VR headset.

First showcased earlier this month during Mobile World Congress, the Vive VR is a true virtual reality headset that doesn’t rely on a smartphone or other gimmicks to work. Early first-hand accounts from those fortunate enough to have tried Vive VR suggest it is actually better than the headset that reignited the world’s interest in virtual reality, the Oculus Rift.

Don't turn this into a mod debate, the comments section of the video was bad enough. Honestly I prefer things that keep the game, more true to roots without garbling it into something it's not.

Sweet, downloading this now to play through the game again, it's been a couple years since the last time I played through the game, so I think it's about time to give it another go and this time with better lighting and visuals. HL2 was the first great game I played after building a gaming PC for the 21st century, and looking back at the P4 and X850 Pro that made it happen, I wonder if that hardware works to this day.

We should probably make the title clearer stating the creator's purpose of keeping true to the style and art of the original game. Yes, for most people FF CM looks better - but it doesn't really look like the same game in some places. We're going to have repeat posts from people who don't read this whole article saying FF CM is better.

I'm confused.
Is this article about Half-Life or Vive VR?
Great disguise title.
