    While many of the points made in this article are true about Gmail's success, there is one very important detail that was passed over: they have not perpetually tinkered with and needlessly modified the interface.

    I jumped on the Gmail bandwagon shortly before it went public and the biggest difference between Google's service and other email providers is that their service started simple and has remained that way while the likes of Yahoo!, Hotmail et. al. have been all over the map. Space and flexibility are nice, but simplicity and cleanliness are equally important features.
