    Hi All:

My machine has 120GB SATA Seagate hard disk, windows 2000 professional OS. Recently, the system hung and i hard reboot my machine, then there was an error message "Reboot and select a proper bootable device/ please insert bootable device and restart your pc". I have looked at the BIOS settings, and i found that Hard Disk is not listed in the bootable device priorities option. I have tried couple of times and the problem did not go away, but after a couple of hours when i tried restarting again it booted from hard disk. Now, again the same problem is observed. It is not recognising the hard disk. What could be the possible reasons?

    Regards,
    Venkat

    Hello and welcome to Techspot.

The first thing I`d suggest is to try a new ide cable.

Hopefully this will sort it for you.
