Hard Drive not working

By timsharpenl

  1. I replaced the harddrive in an acer aspire 3000 with a harddrive from an acer aspire 3610. The laptop boots to the boot manager and the flashes a black screen a few times and then the system restarts. What could the problem be?

    Thanks

You can't just swap drives (with a windows installation on it) from different machines and have that same Windows work properly, you need to reinstall Windows, or at the very least do a repair.

Ok but the acer 3000 will not boot from any cd. Also the bios does not recognize the original harddrive at all its not in the bios list but when I put in the harddrive from the acer 3610 it does show in the list. Now how can I get the new harddrive from the 3610 to work in it.

Ok, so both hard drives are good, right?

Does it just not try to boot from cd?
