  1. My eMachine mother board died. I had another computer with a smaller hard drive. I want to put the hard drive from the emachine in the other computer. Both computer have a Celeron. The computer will not boot up with the emachine hard drive. Am I going to have to format it before it will work. I didn't want to. If I use it as a slave it is not recognized at all. The other hard drive has 98 on but is very small. The emachine has XP.

you can't just transplant hds and have a working os if you are booting from it.

As far as putting that drive in the other comp, that should work out fine, just make sure its slave. Really there isn't much to it, if it does't work, you have other problems.
