Hard drives not detected

hai,

i have a dell poweredge 2950 server i want to install new OS windows 2003 R2 x64/x32 but i am getting error message sayings that " set up did not find any hard disk drives installed in your computer. Make sure any hard disk drives are powered on and properly connected to your computer"

one of my friend ask me to press F6 while installation of OS with the raid controllers drivers in my external hard drive i done but no use i lost all my data from external hard drive....

please help me to come out this. any help will be highly appreciated...
