Harddrive crash! please help!

I took my laptop to a computer wiz? because my harddrive stop working. a new harddrive was installed but the wiz did not transfer all my files. is there a way to look into my old drive to see if there are more "uncorrupted" files? I don't know much about computers, I am afraid that taking it to a computer shop will cost me a leg.

Any sugestions is well apreciated.

A usb to ide adapter that supports a lappy drive woud be your cheapest option.

Please explain what ide adapter is. Is this something I can name to the sales person?

laptop adapters

do search on ebay
they sell for about 5.00 USD or so
if you have ide channel on the MB you could plug in there on boot bios should see it
use the 2nd channel as I don't think you can jumper for master /slave with the adapters
then if you do access drive
if drive does not spin up you will need pro to access drive
