Hello,

Thanks a lot for this website!!!
I got some nasty spyware on my computer some days ago. When going to the internet I was redirected to a certain website all the time. I found this website thanks to my brother and have carefully followed all the 15 steps in the preliminary removal instruction.

The Panda Antirootkit programme did not find anything. The other requested files are attached. Have I succeeded in cleaning my system?!

Regards
Monika

Hello and welcome to Techspot.

Go to add remove programmes in your control panel and uninstall anything to do with(if there).

Video Add-on Setup

Close control panel.

Run HJT with no other programmes open(except notepad). Click the scan button. Have HJT fix the following, by placing a tick in the little box next to(if there).

O3 - Toolbar: IE Custom Tools - {23ED2206-856D-461A-BBCF-1C2466AC5AE3} - C:\Program\Video Add-on Setup\ictmdl.dll (file missing)

Click on the fix checked button.

Close HJT and reboot your system.

Click start/run and type regedit into the run box and hit the enter key.

Navigate to the following reg keys and delete them.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar\
{23ED2206-856D-461A-BBCF-1C2466AC5AE3}

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{23ED2206-856D-461A-BBCF-1C2466AC5AE3}

Close regedit.

Locate and delete the following bold files and/or directories(if there).

C:\Program\Video Add-on Setup

Reboot your system again.

Post fresh HJT and Combofix logs.

This is what I succeeded with

Hi Howard,

I succeeded doing everything you specified except to:

Navigate to the following reg keys and delete them.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar\
{23ED2206-856D-461A-BBCF-1C2466AC5AE3}

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{23ED2206-856D-461A-BBCF-1C2466AC5AE3}

There was no such key named: {23ED2206-856D-461A-BBCF-1C2466AC5AE3}
(although there was another key with a similar name).

There was no directory called CLSID under HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT

I even went to the tool menu in the control panel and choosed to see hidden files in order not to miss them, but they where not there.

I did this:

And in the end I did:
Locate and delete the following bold files and/or directories(if there).

C:\Program\Video Add-on Setup

Reboot your system again.

Post fresh HJT and Combofix logs.

Regards
Monika

I enclosed the new combofix and HJT logs.

All clean.

Turn off system restore.(XP/ME only) See how HERE.

Now, turn system restore back on. This will have deleted all your old restore points and any nasties that are in them. It will also have created a new, clean restore point.

If you have any further virus/spyware problems, please post in this thread.
