I rebuilding my system and i have an
Asus A8s-x Motherboard with 1 GB of RAM, AMD64 x2 3800xp Nvidia Gforce FX5200 video card and one new WD 200GB HD, verbaim CDR-W

im runing it bare as i can, the strange thing is when i first turned it on, i was able to get it to the windows install and when i was goin to format and partation the new HD only showed up 130 GB <i found out this was the WIn XP limit- so just had to run SP1 and 2 to fix that > so i shutdown my computer and restarted it. Now it wont even go to the windows install screen.. all i see is a bliking curser on the top left.

I took out the HD and restarted, everything loaded up find and even the win install, but couldnt move on because there was no HD

i connected a diffrent HD and it moved past the load up .

any idea whats wrong with the first HD? or what i can do to fix it?

investigate your BIOS settings for LBA support. Without this, the limit is 137gb and
will go much higher with it :)

I guess for that i would have to install SP 1 and 2 .. but i cant do that untill my HD works ..

the BIOS detects the HD, but i cant get it to bootup to install windows

an update, i installed the HD in my other Desktop as a primary slave and i get a ATAPI incompatible warning on load up...
so i guess the HD is screwwed eh
