HDMI connection to TV is broken

  1. Every time I try to connect my laptop to my TV through the HDMI cable, it starts to work and my screen shows on the TV, but then after about 3 or 4 seconds it goes black along with my laptop screen. I've tried the different options to display the screen but it seems to remain. I'm not sure how to fix it, was hoping someone could help. Here's my specs:

    CPU:
    Intel Core i7-4810MQ 2.80Ghz
    Memory:
    16GB 1600Mhz DDR3 RAM
    Graphics:
    Radeon HD R9 M290X
    Storage:
    2TB HDD, 7200RPM
    Operating System:
    Windows 7 Professional 64-bit

Are your graphics drivers up to date? Have you tried a 'clean install'?

Try with another monitor/TV if you can, too.
