Headphone wire ripped!

Hey, I am having this problem - http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v465/ThalinRPG/Picture040.jpg
where the headphone wire has ripped out of the small 'adapter' on the main wire, where the mic wire also comes out of. I know how to solder, but have no idea how to fix this, do I need to cut open the 'adapter' and solder each individiual coloured wire?

Any help is appreciated.

It might be easier to buy an extension cable or splitter with the proper 3.5mm jack and splice and solder the wires a few inches from the end. This way you have more room to do the splicing and you don't have to cut into the old 3.5mm jack.
