Hearing DVD Audio, but no DVD Video

I'm having a problem getting DVDs to show up correctly on my DVD playing software. I have Nero Showtime, PowerDVD 5 & 6, and Windows Media Player. It runs ok in window mode for WMP and Nero, but I can't get to play in full screen. All I can see is a black screen, but I can hear the audio. For Power DVD I can't see anything at all; window or fullscreen. I have all the latest display drivers. Hardware acceleration is off for my PowerDVD 6. I am running:
Windows XP Pro SP2
Direct X 9.0c
Asus A8N-E w/on-board audio
AMD Athlon 64 Athlon 3700+
Asus Radeon x850 Pro 256MB
1GB OCZ PC400 Ram
and with 240GB HD space.

codecs problems

All I have found in the past when a dvd doesnt play is codecs. Download them from Free-Codecs.com. I am 100% sure you will have them playing in no time

I think worked in another thread here, try toggling the "Video Hardware Acceleration" option in your DVD player. That & changing Drivers usually fix it.
